A few thoughts from the mom

So as I’ve been adjusting to life as a mom, I have inevitable been adjusting to a post-partum body as well. This hasn’t been smooth sailing as I thought it would be. If I’m to be quite honest, there have been a lot of major insecurities and negative self image mindsets being revealed. This is no fault of my husband, as he has been ever so affirming and kind in his words and thoughts towards me. It has taken much overcoming and surrender to truth in order to get to the place where I actually feel beautiful again. You see, until this week I have been superficially trying to attain to this culture’s standard of beauty. A standard that imposes a flawless stomach, thin thighs, tan skin, and perky points up north ;) I found myself so unfulfilled and longing for something more. I came to a place where I was humbled before my Savior, asking Him to teach me His beauty. In Romans 12:1 it says, “I urge you, therefore, by the mercies of God, that you present you bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service”. Holy Spirit spoke to me about the reality of Christ fulfilling this verse as He was a living sacrifice offered to God on our behalf. His sacrifice brought forth for us salvation. He is the only sacrifice that was a sin offering that is still living; for He broke the power of sin and death. As a living sacrifice He still bears the scars in His hands and feet. Here I am 16 weeks post-partum and I am finally starting to understand God’s heart behind the natural changes that occur to a woman’s body after bringing forth a baby. Childbearing is truly a sacrifice unto the Lord, denying oneself for the sake of bringing forth His blessing; a child. A woman who bears children is offering her body as a living sacrifice; accepting the marks that motherhood naturally brings. The very marks of beauty that puts our culture to shame; for this is God’s standard of beauty as seen in Jesus. As I have struggled with a body changed by sacrifice I know others do as well. Jesus has already spoken to us so kindly. Romans 12 goes on in verse 2 to say, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable will of God”. That has been my journey, allowing Holy Spirit to re-set my mindset to His standard of beauty. I am fully woman, fully beautiful, fully in love with His will; to be a mother marked by love.

3 month overview

10 weeks

This month has been SO much fun!! He is getting so active and responsive!! He is now recognizing special peoples voices, like his Abuela Cindy and Grammie Faith. It so awesome to see his eyes light up when he hears them. :) He is very much in love with sucking on his hands and fingers. It's gonna be a sad day in the life of Micaiah when his fist doesn't fit in his mouth anymore! Every morning after I nurse him I take him to his swing to say good morning to his rainforest frog friends on the mobile. He always looks straight up in anticipation of me turning them on. He watches them go round and round very contented while I eat. :) He also enjoys his friends: pig, chicky, carrot, and corn. Lol!!! Everytime we put him in his bouncy seat his smiles and flirts with them!! Too cute!!!

Matthew is still in awe everyday that he is a father; he says it's still unreal. He's loving it!! He says that life with his wife and baby is amazing!

A few cute pics from the past few weeks:

He thinks he's pretty studly

Sleeping with mommy.

Easter package from Grammie and Grandpa (sorry it's upside down).

Yup, that's right. :) this was his Easter outfit :) we went non traditional.

We end this month with a bunch of my family in town. :) such a blessing!!!!

Ok, ok moving on. Micaiah is growing stronger at standing and only needs us to hold his hands now!

He loves his baby Einstein toys that his grammie got for him!! Unlike in this video, every time he sees that thing now he gets really happy and smiles like crazy!

He took a nap while mommy and daddy worked on the garden.

Micaiah is growing and growing! He is over 13 pounds now! :)
Please be praying for us this next week as we meet with a pediatric surgeon to discuss surgery options to correct a hernia we discovered last week. Thanks!!
